Dr. Yee’s Approach

Illness and disease are typically the manifestations of complex interactions between many biological processes and systems along with individual lifestyles, behaviors, environmental circumstances and exposures. Exploring together with the patient the root causes of their ill health is essential to seeking successful remedies and defining goals.

Supplemental evidence-based treatment protocols may then be introduced in support of ongoing conventional management to enhance effectiveness, reduce the reliance on pharmaceuticals and otherwise complement a treatment by involving different approaches, such as nutritional intervention, among a host of options. For Dr. Yee and her patients, establishing a supportive, strong, mutual understanding and dedication to the patient’s goals along with flexibility and persistence is the prescription for successful healing and recovery.

“If they are willing to meet me, I am more than willing to meet them. Those who are sincere and determined are my best and happiest patients.”

Clinical Interests

New patients present a vast array of conditions and concerns. Among the more prominent that Dr. Yee treats are: chronic fatigue, chronic infections, biotoxin illness, autoimmunity issues, gastrointestinal problems, rheumatological and neurodegenerative disorders. Cancer also continues to be of primary interest.

“I have specifically focused on oncology to develop integrative and nutritional treatment strategies for those trying to prevent cancer, those with active cancer in treatment and for patients in remission. Each patient’s goals differ, whether it be the reduction of side-effects, augmenting benefits of their therapy or strengthening their immune system. Post treatment (usually radiation or chemotherapy) can be crucial times to implement other non-toxic evidence based treatments done with the intent of remission or sustained remission. The watching and waiting period are opportune times to include supportive options rather than a time to simply sit back and monitor.”

As a physician, Dr. Yee’s efforts to heal and reverse disease function in conjunction with disease prevention, health maintenance and longevity. From this perspective, nutrition, exercise, relaxation, sleep - in short - all the components of healthy lifestyles are crucial. The stress of toxic environments and situations, physical/mental exhaustion and poor sleep are among the many factors that may compromise the body’s natural balance and contribute to ill health.

Dr. Yee’s understanding of the importance of nutrition to good health are in part informed by her fifteen years’ experience in creating and maintaining a micro farm (along with her physician husband and young son) which provides organic nutrient-dense vegetables, herbs, fruits and medicinal botanicals. Similarly, her years’ long physical training practice has deepened her understanding beyond the academic to the nuanced insights of personal experience. As a consequence she is able to adapt and customize healthful measures to support her patients consistent with their goals, abilities and wishes.

“The goals of the anti-aging and preventative health programs are to optimize longevity, physical performance and cognition by using an individual’s biomarkers to guide patients to ‘bio-hack’ or find and create efficient pathways and shortcuts towards optimal health.”
